The Process

Please read this in its entirety before doing anything else. There are certain time tables below that unless followed might cause you some confusion.

The following is an attempt to explain the process involved with the Parrothead license plate. It is an edited copy of an e-mail between myself and Mr. J.J. Gentry, who is a lawyer that works in the Senate and who has been instrumental in the entire process.

1. At the bequest of the working parties at DMV, JJ will act as liaison between the SC Presidents Council and DMV.

2. J.J. asked me and the Council agreed that I would act as liaison between J.J. and the Council, which is why the first 400 plate applications and checks for both DMV and the Alzheimer Association Chapters are going through me.

3. The council needed to decide on a two letter beginning for the plate numbers. Since PH was taken it was suggest that we use JB, so we are.

4. Margaritaville was contacted concerning design, they were and for information on that go the the Design page.
Hopefully those designs will be available for viewing, comments and a decision by the Council by July 1.

5. The Council will designate who gets the first 100 plates. We have determined to have an auction state-wide for plate numbers 1-10. Numbers 11-100 will be divided fairly between the Council's Chapters with the understanding that some additional money for Alzheimer Associations will be raised by them. Hopefully this will be completed by July 15. Auction date will be announced when decided. Numbers 101 - 400 will be applied for on a first come, first serve basis, beginning after the auction. Remember the DMV will NOT be accepting applications. They won't even know we exist until I send them the applications and checks for the first 400.

6. For the first 100 plates separate checks will be made for DMV and the Palmetto Chapter of Alzheimer Associations. The reason for this is those moneys collected above the registration fee (registration +$30) are tax deductible. No checks will be cashed before the first 400 plates are sold. I will be keeping these in a lock box.

7. A web page for handling this will be set up. You are X here!

TIME LINE FOR PLATE APPLICATIONS
Remember all appropriate checks must be received WITH the applications.

1. The Auction for plates 1-10 will begin at 8:00 am on June 15.
NO BIDS WILL BE ACCEPTED BEFORE THEN!
The Auction will end at July 15 at 8:00 pm (my bedtime is 9:00).
See Plates 1-10.

2. Applications from Club Presidents for Plates 11-100 will be accepted once they have collected ALL of those applications and checks. See Plates 11 thru 100.

3. Applications and checks for any other plates, numbered 101 - 400 will be accepted no earlier than July 17, 2006. I will record the date received and issue plate numbers sequentially on a first come first serve basis. Applications received before this date will be held until July 24, then numbered (So don't jump the gun please I am not a CPA). See Plate Order Forms .

Sorry about all the reading but I want everybody to understand and to be happy. If you have any questions, e-mail ME.
